Grossi: IAEA Welcomes Return to Diplomacy Regarding Iran
Tehran - BORNA - Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the IAEA, issued a statement on Wednesday reacting to the two-week ceasefire in the war imposed by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, which took effect earlier today.
Grossi stated that the agency welcomes the agreed ceasefire between the United States and Iran and stands ready to support efforts toward finding a sustainable solution regarding Tehran’s nuclear program.
"The IAEA welcomes the return to diplomacy aimed at negotiating a settlement on key issues, including Iran’s nuclear program," the Director General added. "The IAEA is ready to support these efforts through its indispensable role in safeguards and verification."
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, referring to the two-week ceasefire agreement for consultations to end the war, stated on his X account: "In response to the brotherly request of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, and given the U.S. request for negotiations based on its 15-point proposal, as well as the U.S. President’s announcement accepting the generalities of Iran's 10-point proposal as a basis for negotiation, I hereby declare on behalf of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran:
1- Should the attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran cease, our powerful Armed Forces will also halt their defensive strikes.
2- For a period of two weeks, safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz will be possible in coordination with the Iranian Armed Forces, while considering the existing technical constraints."
