Top diplomats of Iran, Saudi Arabia discuss latest regional developments
The foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia held a telephone conversation on Monday to discuss the latest developments regarding negotiations between Iran and the U.S., as well as regional affairs.

Tehran - BORNA - Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Faisal bin Farhan, the foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia, consulted on Monday afternoon regarding the ongoing diplomatic processes between Tehran and Washington, which are being mediated by Pakistan.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also held similar discussions on Sunday with his counterparts from Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, and the Netherlands.

On Sunday evening, Iran delivered its response to the American proposal—which itself was a reaction to Iran’s initial 14-point plan—to the Pakistani mediator.

According to a report by Al-Mayadeen, Iran’s response includes the lifting of U.S. sanctions and the unfreezing of Iran's blocked assets. Furthermore, any agreement with Washington must include an immediate end to the war and a 30-day negotiation period to discuss post-ceasefire details.

Al-Mayadeen reported that Iran’s response emphasizes the inclusion of a clause regarding a ceasefire in Lebanon and links some of the proposed understandings to guarantees concerning de-escalation in Lebanon. In this text, Iran has proposed reciprocal steps to gauge the seriousness of the United States in implementing its commitments.

Since the Islamabad negotiations in April, interactions between Iran and the United States have been conducted in writing through Pakistani mediation.

A few hours after Iran's message was sent, the U.S. President once again labeled the text "unacceptable."

Commenting on Trump’s reaction, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated on Monday: "We have not demanded any concessions; the only thing we have demanded is the legitimate rights of Iran."
