Major General Pakpour: Iran Fully Prepared to Deliver a Decisive Response to Any Future Aggression
Tehran - BORNA - Pakpour made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran with Qasim al-Araji, Iraq’s National Security Adviser, who arrived with a political and security delegation earlier on Monday.
Al-Araji conveyed the greetings of the President and Prime Minister of Iraq to Major General Pakpour and reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to implementing all bilateral security agreements with the Islamic Republic.
“The security of Iran is the security of Iraq,” al-Araji stated, firmly rejecting any use of Iraqi territory for hostile acts against Iran. He announced the establishment of a joint security committee to oversee the enforcement of the Iran–Iraq security accord and to prevent any illegal cross-border movements.
Referring to the recent ceasefire in Gaza, al-Araji expressed deep mistrust toward the Israeli regime, warning that “the likelihood of its violation remains high.” He underlined that “the unity of regional nations is the key to peace and stability,” adding that “during the 12-day war waged by Israel against Iran, the enemy expected internal unrest in Iran, but the Iranian people proved their steadfast loyalty to the principles of their Revolution.”
Welcoming the Iraqi delegation, Major General Pakpour described the visit as “highly significant at this juncture,” warning that “regional enemies seek to undermine the internal unity of nations.”
He added: “During the 12-day war, the Zionist regime attempted to disrupt Iran’s national cohesion through assassinations and chaos, but with the prudence of the Supreme Leader and the vigilance of the people, this conspiracy failed.”
Highlighting Iran’s defensive capabilities, the IRGC commander stated: “The enemy assumed our missile capacity would weaken in the early days of the conflict, but we acted with full power and precision, successfully destroying all designated targets.”
He further stressed: “Iran is fully prepared to respond decisively to any future aggression. Should our enemies make the mistake of attacking again, we will ignite hellfire against them.”
Major General Pakpour also thanked Iraq for its efforts in curbing militant activity along the border during the conflict, calling for the full implementation of existing security agreements and the establishment of a joint field committee to monitor border areas.
“These groups are a threat to the security of both countries,” he noted. “They must be contained through close cooperation.”
For his part, al-Araji reiterated Iraq’s firm commitment to preventing any hostile action against Iran from its territory, saying: “During the 12-day war, we allowed no movement by opposition groups, and we will decisively prevent such actions in the future as well.”
In conclusion, both sides reaffirmed their determination to enhance security cooperation, activate bilateral mechanisms, and uphold their political and moral commitments to mutual stability and regional peace.
