China Opposes US Actions in the Caribbean
China announced its opposition to "unilateral and extreme enforcement" by the United States against ships in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific, emphasizing that cooperation between China and Venezuela will not be affected by any third party.

Tehran - BORNA - Mao Ning, Spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, stated on Tuesday at a press conference in Beijing regarding cooperation between China and Venezuela amid US threats against the Latin American country: "The cooperation between China and Venezuela is not targeting any third party and will not be affected by any third party."

In response to rumors that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is seeking missiles, drones, and other military equipment from China, Russia, and Iran to deter potential US attacks, Mao expressed support for "efforts to combat transnational crimes through stronger international cooperation" and opposition to the use of force in international relations. She said: "China has a clear position on the use of force by the US to counter so-called drug cartels in the Caribbean Sea."

She added: "Beijing opposes actions that undermine peace and stability in the Latin American region, as well as unilateral and extreme enforcement against ships of other countries."

Washington has conducted more than 12 raids on vessels suspected of drug trafficking, primarily in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific, since September, resulting in at least 64 deaths.

Mao further stated: "We hope that the United States will engage in normal law enforcement and judicial cooperation through bilateral and multilateral legal frameworks."

The American newspaper The Washington Post previously claimed, citing internal US government documents, that amid increasing US forces in the Caribbean, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro contacted Russia, China, and Iran to bolster his country's aging military and request assistance—including defensive radars, aircraft maintenance, and possibly missiles. These claims have also been denied by Moscow.
