Gharibabadi: No Access Possible to Bombed Nuclear Facilities
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs said on Sunday that access to nuclear facilities targeted in recent US-Israeli attacks is not possible, emphasizing that all the sites struck were under strict International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards at the time of the assault.

Tehran - BORNA - Speaking at a panel titled “Nuclear Non-Proliferation in Danger: Trends and Dominant Discourses” during the international conference “International Law Under Assault: Aggression and Defense,” Kazem Gharibabadi described the attacks as a threat to international peace and security as well as to the non-proliferation regime. He stressed that, under international regulations, the IAEA should have reported this act of aggression to the UN Security Council to prevent its repetition.

Gharibabadi criticized what he called the silence and inaction of the IAEA, its Board of Governors and the Security Council regarding the violation of Iran’s territorial integrity and attacks against its nuclear infrastructure. Referring to post-attack cooperation with the IAEA, he said inspectors were able to visit facilities that were not bombed.

“They cannot access the bombed facilities because we ourselves do not have access. Due to security concerns and existing risks, such access is not permitted,” he stated.

The deputy foreign minister also commented on Western insistence that inspectors visit the damaged sites, suggesting that one of their main intentions appears to be determining “how much damage they managed to inflict.”

Gharibabadi reiterated that, “At this stage, given the attacks, we are not conducting any enrichment.” He also warned against efforts by European countries and the United States to push for a resolution against Iran at the upcoming Board of Governors meeting, arguing that such pressure would undermine cooperation rather than facilitate it.

Responding to repeated allegations from Israeli officials claiming Iran seeks nuclear weapons, he said these accusations have been made for three decades and were used as justification for the recent attack.
