Ambassador: Iran-China Relations Can Evolve into a More Sustainable Partnership
Tehran - BORNA - Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, Iran’s Ambassador and Special Envoy to China, made these remarks during a series of meetings with Chinese thinkers, researchers, and the elite community in Beijing. These sessions aim to synergize the global initiatives of both presidents, analyze geopolitical trends in West Asia, and explore new capacities for economic and technological cooperation. During the session, the Iranian envoy addressed various questions and ambiguities raised by Chinese scholars regarding Iran's domestic issues and regional developments.
"Iran-China relations have the potential to become a sustainable and result-oriented partnership," Rahmani Fazli stated, proposing solutions based on cultural interactions and closer ties between the two nations. He noted that relying on mutual respect, non-interference, long-term vision, and resolving differences through dialogue could serve as the roadmap for this endeavor.
The Ambassador further elaborated that while bilateral ties are driven by economics and connectivity, they are protected by trust-building security cooperation and sustained through mutual understanding and people-to-people relations. "Achieving this horizon requires closing three gaps: the gap between political will and institution-building, the gap between documentation and implementation, and the gap between government-to-government and nation-to-nation relations," he added, stressing that specific actions and continuous follow-ups would make cooperation more cost-effective and resilient against external pressures.
Wang Jin, Director of the Beijing Center for International Strategic Studies, who recently returned from a trip to Iran, shared his observations during the meeting. He noted that the image projected of Iran by Western media is far from reality. "Western media attempts to portray Iran as unstable, but a visit to the country reveals the falsity of such claims," Wang Jin remarked, adding that the Ambassador’s realistic portrayal of Iran helps resolve misunderstandings.
He An, Director of the Horizon Insight Think Tank, also emphasized the necessity of such intellectual exchanges. He stated that Chinese scholars and the elite community play a significant role in policy-making and decision-making in China. He noted that there is a great capacity for increased interaction between the youth of both nations and called for more frequent dialogues to find practical ways to expand bilateral relations.
