Araghchi to Austrian Counterpart: Red Sea, Strait of Hormuz Situation Direct Result of U.S.-Israeli Aggression
In a phone conversation on Saturday, Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi discussed regional developments and the security and economic fallout of the "imposed war" by the U.S. and the Israeli regime against Iran.

Tehran - BORNA - The Austrian Foreign Minister expressed deep concern over the war’s impact on global security and the economy, emphasizing the necessity of diplomacy to halt the conflict. She further conveyed Austria’s readiness to provide "good offices" to facilitate a diplomatic resolution.

Minister Araghchi detailed the war crimes and international law violations committed by the U.S. and the Zionist regime during 35 days of military aggression. He stressed the responsibility of all governments to condemn these actions, which include strikes on Iran’s industrial infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and universities. Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s unwavering determination to utilize all capacities to defend its sovereignty, national interests, and territorial integrity.

The Iranian Foreign Minister criticized certain European states for highlighting only the economic consequences of the war while ignoring the illegal nature of the U.S. military aggression. "The current situation in the region and the Strait of Hormuz is a direct result of the illegal war launched by the U.S. and the Israeli regime against Iran," Araghchi stated. He urged the international community to hold the aggressors accountable for their crimes.

Regarding maritime security, Araghchi pointed to measures taken by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that these actions align with international law and aim to prevent the misuse of the waterway by aggressors and their partners for operations against Iran. He noted that non-hostile vessels can coordinate with the Islamic Republic for safe passage through the strait.

The two ministers also exchanged views on certain consular matters and emphasized the continuation of diplomatic engagements at various levels between Tehran and Vienna.
