Fidan, Araghchi Discuss Iran-U.S. Negotiations in Telephone Call
Tehran - BORNA - According to the Anatolia News Agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, discussed the recent developments surrounding the Iran-U.S. talks.
The negotiations in Islamabad began on Saturday following U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of an agreement with Tehran for a two-week ceasefire.
On Sunday morning, JD Vance, the U.S. Vice President and head of the American delegation, announced that Iran and the U.S. had failed to reach an agreement during the talks and that the American delegation would return home without a deal.
The Iranian delegation participated in this round of talks—mediated by Pakistan—while expressing deep skepticism toward the opposite side and emphasizing the past experiences of U.S. breaches of promise in previous negotiations.
Early Tuesday, U.S. officials told the Associated Press that Islamabad and Geneva are being considered as potential venues for a new round of negotiations between the United States and Iran.
