Over 17,000 Iranian Pilgrims Arrive in Saudi Arabia: Hajj Official
Tehran - BORNA -Alireza Rashidian, explaining the latest status of Iranian pilgrims' arrival in Saudi Arabia, stated: "As of Thursday evening, May 7, more than 17,500 Iranian pilgrims have entered Saudi Arabia. Of this number, approximately 7,500 have been transferred to the holy city of Mecca, while nearly 10,000 pilgrims are currently stationed in Medina."
He added that the arrival of Iranian pilgrims in Medina is ongoing and will continue until May 15.
The Hajj official further noted that the transfer of pilgrims from Medina, the city of the Prophet (PBUH), to Mecca is being carried out via high-speed railway.
Rashidian highlighted that Iranian pilgrims are engaged in their worship and rituals in a spiritual atmosphere, adding: "Fortunately, no specific problems have been reported, and all planned services, including accommodation, catering, transportation, and medical services, are being provided according to schedule."
The head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization also addressed the follow-up efforts for issuing "Raqam-e-Talab" (request numbers) and visas for a limited number of companions. "We hope that through the efforts of the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Saudi Arabia and the cooperation of the relevant authorities in the host country, this issue will be resolved soon so that these individuals can join the pilgrims in the Land of Revelation," he added.
This year, approximately 30,000 Iranian pilgrims are being dispatched to the Land of Revelation for the Hajj pilgrimage. By the end of Thursday, about 57% of them had entered Saudi Arabia.
