Russia: Moscow will not support US-Bahrain anti-Iran draft resolution
Tehran - BORNA - Alexander Alimov, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, confirmed in remarks to Izvestia newspaper that Moscow cannot support the proposal currently under consideration by the U.S. and Bahrain.
"We call on both parties involved in drafting the resolution to withdraw it and not to push for a swift decision, as we currently see no prospects or possibility for its adoption," the Russian diplomat stated.
Alimov noted that the joint Russian-Chinese draft resolution remains on the table, explaining that it includes clear provisions calling on all parties to end the war, refrain from the use of force, resolve disputes through diplomatic dialogue, and guarantee the freedom of navigation in international waterways.
He added that the draft resolution has dedicated separate paragraphs to these points, though a date for a decision on it has not yet been set.
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister expressed Moscow's deep concern over the recent exchange of strikes between Tehran and Washington, stating: "The renewed attacks between Iran and the United States are deeply concerning. We hope that the negotiation process leads to tangible results."
Alimov concluded by reiterating Russia's consistent position since the beginning, calling for an unconditional cessation of violence and a political and diplomatic settlement to achieve sustainable agreements between Washington and Tehran. He noted that any obstacles in this path are a matter of deep concern for Moscow.
