Beijing slams U.S. anti-Iran sanctions as "Illegal and Unilateral"
Tehran - BORNA - Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Monday: "We have always required Chinese companies to conduct trade in accordance with laws and regulations, and we will resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises."
The spokesperson added: "The top priority is to prevent the return of war by all possible means, rather than using war to link and smear other countries in a destructive manner. China considers U.S. sanctions in connection with Iran to be illegal and unilateral."
Sino-Russian Strategic Coordination
Guo Jiakun also emphasized that Beijing is ready to strengthen cooperation with Russia across various fields and contribute to shaping a "fairer" system of global governance.
"China is ready to continue maintaining the spirit of lasting good-neighborliness, comprehensive strategic coordination, and mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia," he said during a press briefing. He further noted that China-Russia relations have maintained a high level of development in recent years, providing "significant stability" to a world filled with change and instability, under the strategic guidance of Presidents Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin.
Upcoming Xi-Trump Summit in Beijing
The spokesperson announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump will discuss bilateral relations, global peace, and development issues during the U.S. President's upcoming visit to Beijing.
"President Xi Jinping will have an in-depth exchange of views with President Donald Trump on major issues related to China-U.S. relations, as well as global peace and development," Guo said. He added that China is ready to expand cooperation and resolve differences with Washington so that the two countries can jointly create more stability and certainty for the world.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Donald Trump is scheduled to pay an official visit to China from May 13 to 15.
