Atwan: Drones entering Saudi airspace were likely Israeli
A prominent Arab world analyst suggested that the drones entering Saudi Arabia from Iraq on Sunday, which were subsequently shot down, likely belonged to the Zionist regime and took off from a secret Israeli base inside Iraq.

Tehran - BORNA - Abdel Bari Atwan, the editor-in-chief of the pan-Arab newspaper Rai al-Youm, reacted on Monday via his account on the X platform to claims made by the Saudi Ministry of Defense regarding the interception of three drones entering its airspace from Iraq.

"The three drones that entered Saudi airspace from Iraq and were all intercepted and shot down were likely Israeli, taking off from secret bases established in the western desert of Iraq with U.S. support," Atwan wrote on X.

The editor-in-chief of Rai al-Youm further noted: "This is just like the drones that bombed the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh at the beginning of the war [against Iran], and all possibilities remain on the table."

Turki al-Malki, the spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, claimed on Sunday: "On Sunday morning, three drones that entered Saudi airspace from Iraqi airspace were intercepted."

Al-Malki emphasized: "Saudi Arabia reserves the right to respond at the appropriate time and place, and will take all necessary measures to counter any violation of its sovereignty and threats to the security of its citizens and residents."
