Pakistani FM: Dialogue and diplomacy must prevail over conflict
Reacting to the prospects of a potential agreement between the United States and Iran, Pakistan's Foreign Minister stated that for the welfare and security of the region and beyond, dialogue and diplomacy must prevail over conflict.

Tehran - BORNA - In a post on his X account, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar wrote: "The important telephone call led by US President Donald Trump with the leaders of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan is a significant step toward the shared goal of peace, regional stability, and achieving an early diplomatic outcome."

"We highly appreciate and thank the constructive engagement of the Iranian leadership, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, in supporting the advancement of these peace efforts," Dar continued. "We commend the leadership and commitment of Trump to dialogue and diplomacy, alongside Vice President JD Vance, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, whose sustained involvement helped achieve meaningful progress in the ongoing negotiations."

In another part of his message, the Pakistani Foreign Minister added: "I also extend my sincere appreciation to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, regional partners, and all other countries with whom I have been in close contact throughout this process since February 28, including Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, as well as the Foreign Minister of Qatar and others whose constructive engagement and support meaningfully contributed to this final outcome."

"I particularly thank Pakistan's Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to peace, and Field Marshal Asim Munir, who played a pivotal role throughout this sensitive and critical process and also served as Pakistan's representative in the talks," the top diplomat noted.

Dar concluded: "I appreciate the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan for its continuous diplomatic engagement and steadfast support throughout these efforts. Islamabad remains resolutely committed to supporting all sincere endeavors aimed at lasting peace, mutual respect, and regional stability. The achievements of these negotiations provide ground for optimism that we will reach a positive and sustainable outcome. For the collective welfare and security of the region and beyond, dialogue and diplomacy must prevail over conflict and confrontation."
