Mohsen Rezaei: Trump Must Break the Negotiation Deadlock
Tehran - BORNA - Rezaei stated in this interview: "The negotiations have reached a deadlock, and Trump must break this deadlock. The ball is in Trump's court."
CNN wrote that Iran is demanding the immediate release of $12 billion of its frozen assets upon signing a temporary agreement with the United States, with another $12 billion to be released in the subsequent phase.
In this interview, Rezaei stated that the demand for the release of Iran's frozen assets is a confidence-building measure, adding that the release of these funds by the Trump administration could open "a new horizon for the future" of Iran and the United States.
The former IRGC commander also warned that if the United States resumes conflicts, Iran "will expand the war beyond the Persian Gulf" and might extend military operations from the Strait of Hormuz to the Indian Ocean, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea. However, he added: "The probability of war is low."
Rezaei also ruled out a potential meeting between the Supreme Leader and Trump, stating: "This will not happen. We are currently in the first stage of negotiations, and Trump has brought the negotiations to a deadlock. This will not happen."
Trump had previously remarked regarding a meeting with the Leader of the Revolution that if such a meeting were to occur, it would be "an honor" for him.
Rezaei also mentioned that Iran and Oman hold sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and will therefore manage it jointly. He emphasized that Iran will charge a fee for the maintenance and management of this waterway, as it should not bear the cost of operating it alone.
Rezaei further expressed skepticism about the durability of any nuclear agreement with Trump, stating that if the negotiations fail, Iran will be prepared for a potential U.S. attack on its soil.
He asserted: "In that case, the world will know Iran's real capabilities, because our ground power is several times greater than our missile capability."
