Aref: Iran seeks serious development of relations with Malaysia
Tehran - BORNA - Mohammad Reza Aref met with Dato' Seri Mohamad Sabu, Malaysia's Agriculture and Food Security Minister, who had traveled to Tehran to attend the funeral ceremony of the martyred leader. Aref expressed gratitude for Malaysia's support during the US and Zionist regime imposed war.
The First Vice President noted that current relations do not match the status of Iran and Malaysia as friendly and brotherly countries, expressing hope for a leap in scientific, economic, cultural, and infrastructure cooperation. He emphasized that trade between the two countries should reach several billion dollars in the medium term.
Aref also highlighted the cultural nature of Iran's Islamic Revolution, stating: "Our confrontation with the US and the Zionist regime is on behalf of the Palestinian nation to resist American domination and oppression. Iran and the Islamic nation paid a heavy price in the recent war, but regional countries seeking security through US support have realized they should not rely on America."
He noted that Iran has entered a new phase of cooperation with regional and Islamic countries in the post-war period, emphasizing that cooperation with Islamic countries should address common issues including national interests and development.
Aref stated that developing relations with Malaysia benefits the Islamic nation and that the new environment in Iran and the region has created conditions for removing obstacles to bilateral relations. He called for serious efforts to develop bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Islamic countries and international unions where both Iran and Malaysia are members.
He also invited Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to visit Iran.
Dato' Seri Mohamad Sabu said Malaysia was the first country to condemn the attacks on Iran and the martyrdom of its leader and civilians. "Iran won this war, even though its leader was martyred. The Iranian nation, through its support for the system and country, helped change geopolitical positions in the region. The martyred leader showed the Islamic nation the path to liberation from colonialism. Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei was not only Iran's leader but also the leader of Muslims and the free worldwide."
He emphasized that the world must recognize Iran as a new power, and Malaysia is determined to expand relations with Iran in various fields.
