Yerevan Backs Multimodal Transport Corridor Linking Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Armenia
Armenia has voiced its support for the creation of a new multimodal transport corridor stretching across Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Armenia, describing the project as a vital opportunity to expand regional trade and connectivity.

Tehran - BORNA - Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan made the remarks during the 11th meeting of the Armenia-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation, held virtually on September 19. The session was co-chaired by Grigoryan and Serik Zhumangarin, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Integration.

Following the meeting, the two sides signed a protocol covering cooperation in a wide range of areas, including trade and economy, advanced technologies, transport, tourism, healthcare, and education, Armenian news agency Armenpress reported.

In his speech, Grigoryan underlined the importance of strengthening ties with Kazakhstan within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and highlighted the untapped potential for deeper trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

“Armenia supports the initiative to create a multimodal transport route along the Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan–Iran–Armenia corridor,” Grigoryan said, adding that cargo is already being transported along the China–Kazakhstan–Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Iran–Armenia axis, reflecting the growing interest in expanding logistics and transport relations among these states.

He expressed hope that such cargo movements would become more regular and pointed to potential Armenian interest in the Khorgos International Center for Boundary Cooperation on the Kazakhstan-China border.

The deputy prime minister emphasized that developing interregional transport and logistics infrastructure is of particular importance for Armenia within the framework of its “Crossroads of Peace” infrastructure initiative.

Grigoryan voiced confidence that Armenia and Kazakhstan will continue to strengthen their partnership based on mutual trust, respect, and friendship between the two nations.
