6 Killed in US Attack on 2 Boats in the Caribbean
Tehran - BORNA - Pete Hegseth, the United States Secretary of War, announced that US forces targeted two boats suspected of drug trafficking off the coast of South America, and six people were killed in these attacks.
He stated that the United States began conducting such attacks in early September; attacks which some experts consider "extrajudicial executions," even if the targets are known figures in drug trafficking. These attacks have targeted boats in the Caribbean Sea and the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
Hegseth said: "Yesterday, by order of President Trump, two lethal strikes were carried out against two vessels belonging to designated terrorist organizations."
He added in a post on the X social network: "Both strikes were conducted in international waters and had three men affiliated with drug cartels on each vessel. All six were killed. No American personnel were harmed. Under the Trump administration, we protect our homeland and eliminate these cartel terrorists who intend to harm our country and our people."
According to him, the vessels were linked to illegal drug trafficking based on US intelligence, were carrying drug shipments, and were moving along a known trafficking route in the Eastern Pacific.
However, Washington has yet to provide any specific evidence indicating that the targets of these attacks were actually trafficking drugs or posed a direct threat to the United States.
