Larijani: Iran and the U.S. Interested in Continuing Negotiations
The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has stated that both Tehran and Washington are inclined to continue the ongoing negotiations, though further internal consultations remain necessary.

Tehran - BORNA -  Ali Larijani remarked in an interview that while both sides seek to maintain the diplomatic process, "consultations must take place in the respective capitals to ensure the negotiations lead to a tangible result." Addressing reports regarding the exchange of messages or letters between Iran and the U.S., Larijani clarified: "We did not have a letter for the Americans; however, our Omani friends shared points on behalf of the Americans and relayed their views to us for review in Tehran."

Economic Diplomacy and Industrial Investment

Discussing the objectives of his visit to Oman and Qatar, Larijani emphasized the strength of bilateral ties, noting that a primary goal is to increase the volume of economic relations. "This is a general policy of Iran," he stated, adding that specific discussions were held regarding investment, particularly in the industrial sector.

Countering Regional Instability and Israeli "Adventurism"

Larijani also highlighted that his meetings addressed the rapidly evolving regional landscape, specifically the "disturbances" caused by Israel. "Today, there is a consensus that the adventurous element in the region is Israel, which seeks to disrupt regional security," he asserted. He noted that political convergence to establish sustainable collective security is a shared concern, and various models for regional security have been proposed.

The Positive Role of Qatar and Oman as Mediators

The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council praised the efforts of officials in Muscat and Doha to restart the talks. He mentioned that during his meetings with the Emir of Qatar and the Qatari Prime Minister, they shared ideas and relayed perspectives from other parties who sought to understand Iran’s logic and position. "We evaluate the conduct of Qatar and Oman regarding the Iran-U.S. negotiations as positive," Larijani concluded, "and we believe these efforts are aimed at reducing the atmosphere of crisis and the threat of war in the region."
