Oman: Iran-U.S. Talks Conclude with 'Tangible Progress'
Tehran - BORNA - In a statement released on Tuesday evening, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman confirmed that Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi held a consultative session prior to the commencement of the talks in Geneva. The meeting included Steve Witkoff, the U.S. President’s Special Envoy, and Jared Kushner, the President’s son-in-law and advisor.
According to the statement published on the Ministry's official account on X (formerly Twitter): "The session included a comprehensive review of the negotiations' framework and the requirements for their success from both political and technical perspectives. The discussions were conducted in a realistic and constructive spirit, enhancing the chances of reaching understandings that serve the objectives of the negotiations."
The Omani Ministry further emphasized that: "Today’s talks concluded with tangible progress, smoothing the path for their resumption in the near future."
Following the conclusion of the second round of negotiations in Geneva, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi provided further details regarding the next steps.
"No specific time has been set for the next round yet," Araghchi stated. "It was agreed that both sides would work on the drafts of a potential agreement and exchange texts. After this process, a date for the third round will be determined."
