Iranian Army: 104 Killed, 32 Injured in U.S. Attack on Destroyer Dena
Tehran - BORNA - The army’s public relations office said in a statement that the vessel was attacked on March 3 while returning from an international naval exercise.
The statement read:
“Destroyer Dena, which on March 3 was on a training mission and returning from the MILAN 2026 Naval Exercise, was subjected to a brutal attack by the naval forces of the criminal United States.
The vessel had a crew of 136 personnel, of whom 104 were martyred. Among them, 20 remain missing. In addition, 32 crew members were injured and were transferred to a hospital in Sri Lanka for medical treatment.
In this inhumane assault, carried out hundreds of miles away from the war zone, the United States Navy violated customary rules, humanitarian principles, and international maritime regulations by opening fire on the destroyer Dena without prior warning. As a result, 104 crew members of the vessel—who had been participating in the combined peace exercise to enhance maritime security and naval diplomacy—were killed.
The people of Iran, along with the families and comrades of these servicemen in the navy, are awaiting the return of the wounded and the bodies of the martyrs of this brutal and inhumane crime.”
