Sullivan Acknowledges Divergence Between U.S. and Israel Over Iran
A former U.S. national security advisor has acknowledged the existence of differences between Washington and the Israeli regime regarding their ultimate objectives in the aggression against Iran.

Tehran - BORNA - Jake Sullivan stated in an interview that, in his view, there is a real divergence between the final goals of the United States and the Israeli regime with regard to the aggression against Iran.

Sullivan, while acknowledging that the Israeli regime’s objective in attacking Iran is to create internal “chaos,” emphasized that from its perspective, a “collapsed Iran” would pose less of a threat.

He added: “However, the United States cannot view the issue in this way, because the collapse of Iran would mean the collapse of the global economy, as Iran continues to threaten to close the Strait of Hormuz.”

The former U.S. official further stressed that the consequences of such a scenario would extend even beyond this, stating: “Therefore, I truly believe that regarding this war in Iran, there is a real difference between Israel’s ultimate objectives and those of the United States.”

Sullivan also acknowledged Iran’s capabilities in the nuclear field during the interview.

Earlier, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, had emphasized in a conversation with his Malaysian counterpart: “Iran will defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity with full strength.”

He had also added: “The legal, moral, and Islamic expectation of the Iranian people from regional countries is that they prevent the continued misuse of their territories by the United States and the Israeli regime for aggressive actions against a neighboring Islamic country.”
