Iran Foreign Ministry: Trump’s "Stone Age" Threat is Clear Evidence of Criminal Intent and War Crimes
Tehran - BORNA - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement regarding the continued war crimes of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, as well as the threats by U.S. officials to commit further war crimes.
The full text of the statement is as follows:
"With 34 days having passed since the illegal and brutal war of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, new dimensions of the aggressors' savagery and their deep-seated malice toward Iran and the Iranian people are revealed every day. During these 34 days, the American-Zionist aggressors have crossed all legal, moral, and humanitarian boundaries, sparing no crime under the guise of 'war.' From the very first hours of their barbaric raid on Iran, simultaneously with terrorist attacks on the workplace of the Supreme Leader and high-ranking national and military officials, they targeted schools, hospitals, and stadiums. The attack on the Shajareh Tayyibah primary school in Minab and the Lamerd stadium in Fars on Saturday, February 28, were just two examples of the predatory enemy's crimes on the first day of the assault on Iran.
During these 34 days, the American-Zionist enemy, in addition to attacking more than 600 schools and educational centers, has assaulted numerous universities, scientific-research centers, hospitals, healthcare facilities, as well as historical-cultural sites and museums. These attacks are a clear sign of the hostility of the U.S. and the Zionist regime toward the Iranian identity and roots, and their animosity toward the scientific growth and excellence of Iranians.
The American-Zionist enemy has also attacked a large number of the country’s industrial and production centers, which were built over several decades through the diligence and efforts of patriotic Iranian entrepreneurs and industrialists, despite the harsh conditions of sanctions and economic pressure.
Simultaneously, U.S. officials—frustrated by the unparalleled resilience of Iranians against their wickedness and disappointed in achieving their illegitimate goals and diabolical illusions against the Iranian nation or intimidating the world into complicity—have intensified their absurd threats and insulting rhetoric against the cultured and proud nation of Iran.
The U.S. President’s repeated threats to attack Iran’s energy infrastructure, including those mentioned in his speech on the evening of Wednesday, April 1, are not only a clear manifestation of the U.S. administration's enmity toward every Iranian citizen but also transparent proof of the criminal intent of U.S. decision-makers to perpetrate the most atrocious international crimes, specifically war crimes and genocide.
The rhetoric of U.S. officials and the threat to destroy Iran’s energy, service, and industrial infrastructure, in itself, constitutes incitement to war crimes and genocide. All governments, under international law and international humanitarian law, are duty-bound to condemn such threatening rhetoric.
The overt threat to 'bomb Iran back to the Stone Age' and the destruction of power plants—which are vital for the survival and life of a nation—is a violent and illegal threat whose primary objective is to spread terror and intimidation among the civilian population. According to Article 51 of the 1977 Additional Protocol I and Article 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, this constitutes a war crime.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, trusting in God and relying on the support of the noble Iranian nation, while emphasizing its iron will for a comprehensive and decisive defense of national sovereignty and territorial integrity against the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime, reminds the United Nations, the UN Security Council, the UN Secretary-General, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, humanitarian organizations including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and every individual government of their clear responsibility to fulfill their duties in condemning gross violations of international law and crimes that are undoubtedly unprecedented in intensity and consequence over the last 80 years, and to take practical measures to hold the criminals accountable.
Indifference toward the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, and the crimes they have committed or threaten to commit, will certainly have fatal consequences for international law, morality, and humanity, affecting the entire international community.
As it has proven many times, the Islamic Republic of Iran will defend the country's territorial integrity and the security of its citizens against the military aggression of enemies with all its might and will utilize all its capacities and capabilities in this sacred and patriotic path."
