Iraqi, Egyptian FMs Stress Need for Agreed Solution Between Iran and U.S.
Tehran - BORNA - Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone conversation on Tuesday to discuss efforts to de-escalate and contain the current tensions.
According to a statement by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, both sides assessed the situation and discussed ongoing efforts to reach understandings between the United States and Iran aimed at stabilizing the region and reducing friction during this sensitive phase.
The ministers deliberated on the extensive ongoing diplomatic communications and stressed the necessity of exercising wisdom to prevent an escalation or a catastrophe that would impact everyone.
Fuad Hussein and Badr Abdelatty also exchanged views on the dire consequences of the conflict on the freedom of navigation, supply chains, food security, and the flow of international trade, in addition to energy security amid rising oil and energy prices.
Both parties underlined the importance of intensifying efforts to end the tension and contain its repercussions to prevent further instability and insecurity across the region.
