Tucker Carlson: The War with Iran Was a Defeat for the United States
Tehran - BORNA - Carlson stated in a video on his YouTube channel that despite efforts to frame President Donald Trump’s announcement of a two-week ceasefire as a win, the reality on the ground tells a different story.
"Yesterday looked like a victory for the United States, although to be precise, it was probably a defeat," Carlson remarked. He argued that Washington failed to achieve any fundamental change in the power structure of the Islamic Republic, while U.S. military bases across West Asia sustained severe damage.
The Cost of Conflict and Maritime Control
The prominent commentator highlighted that the 40-day conflict has cost hundreds of billions of dollars, yet control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz remains firmly in Tehran's hands.
Carlson noted that while many see the ceasefire itself as a positive development—stating that "a ceasefire is a good thing"—he criticized those who oppose the truce, suggesting that such opposition contradicts American national interests.
Questioning U.S. Influence and Military Power
Carlson raised pointed questions regarding the influence of the Israeli regime over the U.S. government, asking why Washington appears unable to restrain Tel Aviv's actions.
He further challenged the self-perception of American military dominance. "The U.S. military keeps saying we have the strongest military in the world. If that’s true, why can’t you force Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz? Why do you need the help of the rest of the world?" he asked.
"If we are strong, why can't we do it alone? It means we aren't as strong as we think we are. That is not only bad for us; it’s dangerous. We need to fix this by stopping the lies," Carlson added.
The conflict, which began on February 28, 2026, following American and Zionist aggression, reached a temporary halt on Wednesday after both sides agreed to a two-week ceasefire to allow for negotiations in Islamabad.
