Iranian Delegation Led by Ghalibaf Arrives in Islamabad for High-Stakes Talks
A high-ranking Iranian negotiating team, headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, arrived in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, on Friday to engage in potential talks with the American side.

Tehran - BORNA - The delegation is composed of specialized committees covering security, political, military, economic, and legal affairs. Official sources emphasize that negotiations will only commence if the opposing side accepts Iran’s explicit preconditions.

Speaker Ghalibaf is accompanied by a top-tier team, including Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Secretary of the Supreme National Defense Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati, and several members of Parliament.

Representing the U.S. side, Vice President J.D. Vance, along with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are also present in Islamabad.

The push for diplomacy follows 40 days of intense conflict. Following the strategic power display of the Iranian Armed Forces and the overwhelming public mobilization in defense of the country, Washington and the Zionist regime were forced to propose a ceasefire after failing to achieve any of their declared objectives. Consequently, the United States formally requested negotiations.

While Tehran has accepted a temporary two-week truce, it has issued a stern warning: if an agreement that satisfies the interests of Iran and the Axis of Resistance is not reached, any resumption of hostilities will result in Iranian forces once again setting the interests of the U.S. and the Zionist regime in the region ablaze.
