Army Spokesman Details Heroic Repelling of U.S. Infiltration Attempt in Central Iran
Tehran - BORNA - Brigadier General Ali Akraminia, the Army spokesperson, appeared on a televised program to mark the upcoming Army Day (April 17). He highlighted the Army's historical role in preserving Iran's territorial integrity, from the early days of the Revolution to the "Third Imposed War."
Thwarting the Infiltration in Southern Isfahan
Details of a high-stakes confrontation on April 5, 2026 (16th of Farvardin), were disclosed during the broadcast. Following intelligence reports from the Army's Information Protection Organization regarding a U.S. infiltration attempt, a specialized team was immediately dispatched to the scene.
"In accordance with the Commander-in-Chief’s directive that any ground aggression must be met with the utmost decisiveness—ensuring no aggressor leaves alive—Brigadier General Masoud Zare, the commander of the Army Ground Force Air Defense College, personally led the operation," Akraminia stated.
He added that General Zare, along with his comrades, displayed exceptional courage by targeting and hitting a U.S. C-130 aircraft using a man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS). This decisive action forced the American forces to flee the scene, resulting in the total failure of their mission. The Army offered four martyrs during this operation, including the late General Zare.
Technological Self-Reliance in the 40-Day War
Reflecting on the recent 40-day conflict, the spokesperson noted that the Army’s air defense and electronic warfare units played a pivotal role in neutralizing enemy threats.
"Despite facing a highly equipped enemy, the Army, alongside the IRGC, prevented the aggressors from achieving their goals," he said. He specifically highlighted the effective performance of the Arash-2 drone and noted that all radar and electronic combat equipment used were domestically produced by Iranian specialists due to ongoing sanctions.
Army Day Commemorations Under Special Conditions
Regarding the plans for April 17, Akraminia explained that due to the current ceasefire and the high state of operational readiness, traditional military parades in city streets will be replaced by alternative cultural and military displays.
"Units remain on full alert, as the current ceasefire does not differ significantly from wartime conditions for us," he noted. Scheduled events include a motorized parade by the Army Provost (Dejban) in Tehran's main squares, speeches by senior commanders during Friday Prayer ceremonies nationwide, special appearances by the crew of the Dena Destroyer at public gatherings, and tributes to the families of the 48,000 martyrs of the Sacred Defense and the martyrs of the recent conflict.
General Akraminia concluded by reaffirming the Army's readiness to monitor and respond to any future "adventurism" by the U.S. and the Zionist regime, stressing that the past 40 days have demonstrated the Army's unwavering commitment to the nation's health and security.
