Iranian Diplomat: We Will Not Return to Negotiations Without Ending the U.S. Blockade
Tehran - BORNA - Mojtaba Ferdousipour, the Head of the Interests Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Egypt, declared that the United States must end the blockade imposed on Iran as a prerequisite for any new talks regarding the ceasefire.
In an interview with the Associated Press, he stated that communication with Pakistani mediators is ongoing to "implement Iran's conditions."
Reaffirming Tehran's stance, Ferdousipour said: "We will not negotiate under threat. We will not go to Islamabad until the blockade is lifted."
The Iranian diplomat also alleged that the U.S. is using the ceasefire as an opportunity to reinforce its troops for a potential resumption of military actions against the Islamic Republic. He added: "They say one thing behind the scenes, but say and do something else in the public arena."
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated: "Diplomacy is a tool for securing national interests and security; whenever we conclude that the necessary and logical grounds are prepared to use this tool to realize national interests and consolidate the achievements of the Iranian nation in thwarting the enemies' sinister goals, we will take action."
